Job Overview

  • Prepare Design Change Packages such as Modifications, Temporary Modifications and Non-Identical Component Replacements
    • For electrical/instrumentation/control design modifications
  • Provide technical and process support to field work under Projects, Work Order Holds and Project Control Center (PCC) actions
  • Prepare design, calculations, design bills of material and address design related field issues
  • Provide advice and/or direction to Design Leads, review designs and sign Field Initiated Changes
  • Perform field inspections, acceptance and approvals
  • Maintaining written documented processes and procedures to reflect improved operating methods and additions to all supported systems
  • Provide Engineering Change Control guidance, provide active support to field issues and Field Initiated Changes, and facilitate a positive outcome with EPC vendors
  • Understand impacts on cost and schedule, and provide support to minimize impacts driving projects.

SUPPLEMENTARY NOTES

  • This position will involve:
    • Design support for electrical, instrumentation, real-time process control computer technical documents, such as specifications, requirements, drawings, commissioning procedures and reports, software qualifications, software categorization, design plans, and testing procedures.
    • Addressing cyber security and vulnerability risk analysis.
    • Design experience and familiarity with engineering change control process
  • The advertised role is for an Assistant Technical Engineer role. Candidates with higher education and experience may qualify for placement at the Technical Engineer or Senior Technical Engineer levels.
  •  Experience in design engineering (electrical/instrumentation/controls/software/ fire/ security and power systems) is an asset.
  • A P.Eng designation is preferred but not required.
  • This position will be located at the Pickering Nuclear Station

Qualifications

  • Degree in electrical / electronics / mechatronics / computer or software engineering is preferred.
  • Requires a knowledge of electrical, electronics, computer science, statistical analysis and economics to provide consultative services in designated, specialized technical fields associated with the development, design, construction, commissioning and operation of power plants.
  • Requires knowledge of English to communicate effectively, both orally and in written form and proficiency in technical report writing to develop, prepare and implement standards, methods, procedures and comprehensive reports.
